What this website records.

This is a plain-English explanation of what this website records when you visit it. It is short because there is not much to say. We do not sell your information, we run no advertising trackers, and we do not use third-party analytics such as Google Analytics. One thing on every page does reach another company — the lettering — and it has a section of its own below.

What the website records

Which pages you view on this site, and how far down each page you scroll.
Which sections of the page you actually saw — for example the inspection section or the towing section.
When you tap to call the shop or the towing line, tap for directions, or switch the page between English and Spanish.
Your approximate location — country, state and city — worked out from your internet (IP) address. Not a street address.
The site that sent you here — for example a Google search or a link somebody shared — and whether your browser is a phone or a computer. Not your screen size, and not the make or version of your browser.
Which links you followed off this site. There are two on these pages: the New York DMV page linked from the inspection section, and the website of AØSAÎ, the site's designer, in the footer of every page. We record only the name of the site you went to, and nothing about what you did once you were there.
A random number that identifies this browser. It is kept in two places — a cookie and your browser's own storage — and it is described in full in the next section.
Each request our own server receives for one of the pages on this site — which page, when, and whether it worked. This is a count only, with nothing attached to it that identifies you, and it is recorded on the server, so it happens even if your browser has JavaScript switched off.
Visits by automated programs. Most of them are the crawlers behind search engines and AI assistants — for example Googlebot, Bingbot, GPTBot from OpenAI, ClaudeBot from Anthropic, PerplexityBot and Applebot. The same record is also kept for SEO tools such as AhrefsBot and SemrushBot, for uptime monitors, for the small programs that fetch a page to build the preview shown when somebody pastes a link into WhatsApp, Facebook, X or Slack, and for any automated visitor we do not recognise. For those we record the name the program gives for itself, the page it asked for, the date and time, the internet network it came from, and whether we could confirm it really is that company by checking the list of addresses the company itself publishes. These are computer programs, not people.

The identifiers this site uses

Two cookies, and five things kept in your browser's own storage. This is the complete list.

w3p_id — a cookie. Our own server sets it. It holds a random 32-character number and nothing else — no name, no email address and no phone number. It lasts 13 months from your last visit, scripts on the page cannot read it, and no other website can read it. That number is attached to every item in the list above — each page view, each scroll, each tap to call — and to the first site that ever sent you here. So it does more than count: it joins one browser's actions together over time. It is not used for advertising, and it is never joined to a name, an email address or a phone number, because this site collects none of those.
w3p_off — a cookie, set only if you switch measurement off (below). It records that one choice and nothing else, and it lasts 395 days — about 13 months. Unlike w3p_id it is deliberately readable by the page's own scripts, so that the measuring code running in the page can see your choice and stop too.
w3p.vid — not a cookie: a random 32-character number kept in this browser's own long-term storage. It does the same job as w3p_id for the half of the measurement that runs inside the page rather than on our server, and it is attached to the same records. Scripts on the page can read this one.
w3p.sid and w3p.seen — kept for this browser tab only, and gone when you close it. They mark one sitting on the site, so several pages in a row count as one visit rather than several.
w3p.off — kept in this browser's own storage. The page's own copy of the switch-off choice described above.
gr-lang — kept in this browser's own storage. Which language you chose, English or Spanish, so the site opens in it next time. It is a setting, not an identifier, and it is written the first time the site opens in Spanish for you even if you never touch the switch.
There are no other cookies and no other stored identifiers. None of them is an advertising identifier, and none of them follows you to any other website.

What it does not do

It sets no advertising cookies and builds no advertising profile. The identifiers named above are used to count visits and returning visitors, and to join one browser's own page views, scrolls and taps together over time so the shop can see how its site is being used. They are not shared with anyone, not sold, and not used to reach you anywhere else. The site does not record your name, your email address or your phone number — there is no contact form on this site, and no email address is published. Tapping a phone number opens your own phone app; the call itself goes through your phone company, not through this website.

Who handles it

The measurement is run for GR Auto Center by AØSAÎ, the website provider, on the shop's behalf and no one else's. It is first-party: what is recorded is written to this site's own database, on the shop's own hosting account, and read back only by the shop's own dashboard. No copy of it is sent to another company, to an advertising network, or to any other website, and it is not sold or shared.

The one thing that does leave this site: the lettering

The typefaces used on these pages are loaded from Google Fonts. That means your browser asks Google's servers for the font files every time you open a page here, including this one, and Google therefore sees your IP address and your browser's name. It happens while the page is loading, before anything described on this page applies, and switching measurement off does not stop it. Google sets no cookie for it. If you would rather it did not happen, an ad-blocker or a browser setting that blocks third-party requests will prevent it; the pages will still work and will simply use your device's own lettering.

How long it is kept

Visit records are kept for 13 months and no longer. The clean-up runs on the site itself as it is used, and the people who look after the site check every month that it has run. The w3p_id cookie expires 13 months after your last visit.

One thing is kept longer, and only for as long as you keep visiting. Beside the visit records there is a single line per browser holding its random number, the date it first arrived and the site that first sent it here. The 13-month clock on that line runs from your most recent visit, not your first — so somebody who keeps coming back keeps that one line, including the date of a first visit that may be years old. It is deliberate: it is what stops a regular customer being erased in the middle of using the site. Everything else — every page view, scroll, tap and location — still goes at 13 months. Asking us to delete your data removes that line too.

Records of individual visits by automated programs, which contain no information about any person, are kept for 25 months. One summary line for each of those programs — its name, and the date it first read this site — is kept for as long as the site exists, because it is the record of when search engines and AI first found the shop. That summary also contains no information about any person.

Turning it off

Add ?w3p=off to the end of any page's address — for example grautocenter.com/?w3p=off — and this browser stops being recorded, on the page and on our server. The w3p_id cookie is deleted at the same time, and this works even if JavaScript is switched off. Adding ?w3p=on turns it back on.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we honour it automatically and you need do nothing. Nothing is recorded, no cookie is set, and if the w3p_id cookie was already there we delete it.
Clearing this website's cookies and site data in your browser removes every identifier listed above. Please note that it also erases the record of your choice to switch measurement off. If you had switched it off, clearing site data switches it back on, and you are counted again as a new visitor from your next page load, with no warning. Adding ?w3p=off once more restores it.

Removing your data, or asking a question

Call the shop on (516) 423-3877 and say you would like your website data removed. We will remove it from our records. You do not need to know any number or code: the day you visited and the town you were in is enough for us to find the records and delete them. If you also want to be sure nothing is recorded from then on, open grautocenter.com/?w3p=off once in the same browser — deleting the records does not by itself stop your next visit being recorded.

This site does not store your IP address. It is used at the moment of your request only to work out the approximate location above, and to check whether a visit that says it comes from Google or an AI company really does — then it is discarded, and it is never written down. Google does see your IP address for the lettering, as described above. The site does store a device identifier — in a cookie and in your browser's own storage — which some privacy laws treat as personal information. This page exists to say so plainly.

Su ubicación aproximada — país, estado y ciudad — deducida de su dirección de internet (IP). No una dirección exacta.
El sitio que lo trajo aquí — por ejemplo una búsqueda de Google o un enlace que alguien compartió — y si su navegador es de teléfono o de computadora. No el tamaño de su pantalla, ni la marca ni la versión de su navegador.
Qué enlaces siguió usted para salir de este sitio. En estas páginas hay dos: la página del DMV de Nueva York que se enlaza en la sección de inspección, y el sitio de AØSAÎ, el diseñador del sitio, en el pie de cada página. Registramos sólo el nombre del sitio al que fue, y nada de lo que hizo una vez allí.
Un número al azar que identifica este navegador. Se guarda en dos lugares — una cookie y el almacenamiento propio de su navegador — y se describe completo en la sección siguiente.
Cada solicitud que recibe nuestro propio servidor por una de las páginas de este sitio — qué página, cuándo, y si funcionó. Es solamente un conteo, sin nada que lo identifique a usted, y se registra en el servidor, así que ocurre aunque su navegador tenga JavaScript desactivado.
Visitas de programas automáticos. La mayoría son los rastreadores de buscadores y de asistentes de inteligencia artificial — por ejemplo Googlebot, Bingbot, GPTBot de OpenAI, ClaudeBot de Anthropic, PerplexityBot y Applebot. Se guarda el mismo registro para herramientas de SEO como AhrefsBot y SemrushBot, para monitores de disponibilidad, para los programitas que piden la página para armar la vista previa que aparece cuando alguien pega un enlace en WhatsApp, Facebook, X o Slack, y para cualquier visitante automático que no reconozcamos. Los identificadores que usa este sitio

Dos cookies, y cinco cosas guardadas en el almacenamiento propio de su navegador. Ésta es la lista completa.

w3p_id — una cookie. La pone nuestro propio servidor. Contiene un número al azar de 32 caracteres y nada más — ni nombre, ni correo, ni teléfono. Dura 13 meses desde su última visita, los scripts de la página no pueden leerla, y ningún otro sitio web puede leerla. Ese número queda unido a cada cosa de la lista de arriba — cada página vista, cada vez que baja, cada toque para llamar — y al primer sitio que lo trajo aquí. Así que hace más que contar: enlaza entre sí las acciones de un mismo navegador a lo largo del tiempo. No se usa para publicidad, y nunca se une a un nombre, un correo ni un teléfono, porque este sitio no recoge ninguno de esos datos.
w3p_off — una cookie, que se pone solamente si usted desactiva la medición (abajo). Registra esa única decisión y nada más, y dura 395 días — unos 13 meses. A diferencia de w3p_id, los scripts de la página sí pueden leerla a propósito, para que el código de medición que corre en la página también vea su decisión y se detenga.
w3p.vid — no es una cookie: es un número al azar de 32 caracteres guardado en el almacenamiento propio y duradero de este navegador. Hace el mismo trabajo que w3p_id para la mitad de la medición que corre dentro de la página en vez de en nuestro servidor, y queda unido a los mismos registros. Éste sí lo pueden leer los scripts de la página.
w3p.sid y w3p.seen — se guardan sólo para esta pestaña del navegador y desaparecen al cerrarla. Marcan una misma pasada por el sitio, para que varias páginas seguidas cuenten como una sola visita y no como varias.
w3p.off — guardado en el almacenamiento propio de su navegador. Es la copia que la página guarda de la decisión de desactivar descrita arriba.
gr-lang — guardado en el almacenamiento propio de su navegador. El idioma que usted eligió, inglés o español, para que el sitio abra en ese idioma la próxima vez. Es una preferencia, no un identificador, y se escribe la primera vez que el sitio abre en español para usted aunque nunca toque el botón.
No hay ninguna otra cookie ni ningún otro identificador guardado. Ninguno es un identificador de publicidad, y ninguno lo sigue a otro sitio web.

Lo que no hace

No pone ninguna cookie de publicidad ni arma un perfil publicitario. Los identificadores nombrados arriba sirven para contar visitas y personas que regresan, y para unir entre sí las páginas vistas, los desplazamientos y los toques de un mismo navegador a lo largo del tiempo, para que el taller vea cómo se usa su sitio. No se comparten con nadie, no se venden, y no se usan para alcanzarlo en ningún otro lado. El sitio no registra su nombre, su correo ni su teléfono — este sitio no tiene formulario de contacto y no publica ninguna dirección de correo. Al tocar un número de teléfono se abre la aplicación de su propio teléfono; la llamada pasa por su compañía telefónica, no por este sitio.

Quién lo maneja

La medición la hace para GR Auto Center la empresa AØSAÎ, el proveedor del sitio, por cuenta del taller y de nadie más. Es de primera parte: lo que se registra se escribe en la base de datos propia de este sitio, en la cuenta de alojamiento del propio taller, y sólo lo lee el panel del propio taller. No se manda ninguna copia a otra empresa, ni a una red de publicidad, ni a ningún otro sitio web, y no se vende ni se comparte.

Lo único que sí sale de este sitio: la tipografía

Las tipografías de estas páginas se cargan desde Google Fonts. Eso significa que su navegador le pide los archivos de letras a los servidores de Google cada vez que usted abre una página aquí, incluida ésta, y por eso Google ve su dirección IP y el nombre de su navegador. Ocurre mientras la página se carga, antes de que aplique nada de lo descrito en esta página, y desactivar la medición no lo detiene. Google no pone ninguna cookie por esto. Si prefiere que no ocurra, un bloqueador de anuncios o un ajuste del navegador que bloquee las solicitudes a terceros lo impide; las páginas seguirán funcionando y simplemente usarán las letras de su propio dispositivo.

Cuánto tiempo se guarda

Los registros de visita se guardan 13 meses y no más. La limpieza corre en el propio sitio a medida que se usa, y las personas que cuidan el sitio revisan cada mes que se haya hecho. La cookie w3p_id vence 13 meses después de su última visita.

Una sola cosa se guarda más tiempo, y sólo mientras usted siga visitando. Junto a los registros de visita hay una sola línea por navegador con su número al azar, la fecha en que llegó por primera vez y el sitio que lo trajo la primera vez. El plazo de 13 meses de esa línea cuenta desde su visita más reciente, no desde la primera — así que quien sigue volviendo conserva esa única línea, incluida la fecha de una primera visita que puede ser de hace años. Es a propósito: es lo que evita borrar a un cliente habitual en medio de su relación con el sitio. Todo lo demás — cada página vista, cada desplazamiento, cada toque y la ubicación — sí se borra a los 13 meses. Si usted pide que borremos sus datos, esa línea también se borra.

Los registros de visitas individuales de programas automáticos, que no contienen información de ninguna persona, se guardan 25 meses. Una línea de resumen por cada uno de esos programas — su nombre, y la fecha en que leyó este sitio por primera vez — se guarda mientras exista el sitio, porque es el registro de cuándo los buscadores y la IA encontraron el taller por primera vez. Ese resumen tampoco contiene información de ninguna persona.

Cómo desactivarlo

Agregue ?w3p=off al final de la dirección de cualquier página — por ejemplo grautocenter.com/?w3p=off — y este navegador deja de registrarse, tanto en la página como en nuestro servidor. La cookie w3p_id se borra al mismo tiempo, y esto funciona aunque JavaScript esté apagado. Con ?w3p=on se vuelve a activar.
Si su navegador envía una señal de Global Privacy Control o Do Not Track, la respetamos automáticamente y usted no tiene que hacer nada. No se registra nada, no se pone ninguna cookie, y si la cookie w3p_id ya estaba, la borramos.
Borrar las cookies y los datos de este sitio en su navegador quita todos los identificadores de arriba. Tenga en cuenta que también borra el registro de su decisión de desactivar la medición. Si usted la había desactivado, borrar los datos del sitio la vuelve a activar, y desde la siguiente página se le cuenta otra vez como visitante nuevo, sin ningún aviso. Con volver a poner ?w3p=off queda restablecida.

Borrar sus datos o hacer una pregunta

Llame al taller al (516) 423-3877 y diga que quiere que se borren sus datos del sitio web. Los quitaremos de nuestros registros. No necesita saber ningún número ni código: con el día en que visitó y el pueblo o ciudad donde estaba nos basta para encontrar los registros y borrarlos. Si además quiere estar seguro de que desde entonces no se registre nada, abra grautocenter.com/?w3p=off una vez en el mismo navegador — borrar los registros por sí solo no impide que se registre su próxima visita.

Este sitio no guarda su dirección IP. Se usa en el momento de su solicitud solamente para deducir la ubicación aproximada de arriba, y para comprobar si una visita que dice venir de Google o de una empresa de IA de verdad viene de ahí — después se descarta, y nunca queda escrita. Google sí ve su dirección IP por la tipografía, como se describe arriba. El sitio sí guarda un identificador del dispositivo — en una cookie y en el almacenamiento propio de su navegador — que algunas leyes de privacidad tratan como información personal. Esta página existe para decirlo claramente.
